Wet Pet Food Processing system for chubb roll-style dog food

Challenge

Pets Choice sought to replace their existing wet pet food production equipment which consisted of batch cooking and a separate cooling process.

They needed to sterilise the product for extended shelf-life and were considering purchasing multiple retorts and pressure kettles for their new factory.

Instead, we developed an efficient semi-continuous in-line system that saves space, money, and reduces energy/ labour costs.

Solution

Jet Process:

A turnkey solution combining pre-mixing, heating and cooling:

High Speed Entrainment System – Powders such as gum, gels, vitamins and hydrocolloids.
Processing Vessels – 3 x 6,000ltr
In-tank Jet Cook – pre-heats to 65◦C.)
In-line Sterilisation System – (65◦C to 148◦C in less than 2 metres.)
In-line Cooling – (148◦C – 86◦C)
Holding Vessels – to supply fillers.

Outcome

The wet pet food processing system is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Delivered in just 10 months, the system was designed and manufactured in-house, installed and commissioned by our team. On-site training was provided to the Pets Choice team to optimise ongoing production.
